Keeping in touch with Network?

Former Analyst here. Took a corp dev job temporarily due to the market.

My questions is around how one goes about keeping in touch with people you have networked with?

I see all this about how you should be sending them interesting articles and all that bullshit. I would be me more than happy to do something like that, but I'm pretty skeptical as to how receptive people are. It seems a bit weird to me. Sending them something that they probably already know seems a little forced.

Although I suppose its different now that I am no longer a student, am I justified in feeling that way? I used to be a total tool, sending emails about how my thoughts on whatever topic, my interest, and how excited I was about the prospect of [insert firm name]. I have since learned that I took myself a bit too seriously.

To me this seems a in line with that. Does anyone have any thoughts or tips on how to approach keeping in touch?

Obviously I do want to create genuine connections, but when I have only had a single coffee chat with said person I am not that comfortable with it.

Thanks in advance.
