Landing Investment Banking Analyst Position from SMU MSF

Instatox, all of these MSFs really do that same thing (obviously to varying degrees based on alumni presence and OCR): give you another shot at FT. No matter which MSF you attend, if you have no internship experience on your resume, you will be flighting a (very steep) uphill battle to land interviews. Good luck.

I hate these stats. The oh I have a low chance of getting in because only X get accepted. Stop speaking in absolutes. Work hard and/or network. End of story. There's many positions open in IB and in the finance industry as a whole.

There's some dude that trolls this forum about SMU MSF's fantastic placements. Makes it sound like it's the holy grail of bschool. Not surprised that he's completely full of shit.

I think, depending on your prior internship experience and undergraduate GPA, you could get on-campus interviews for summer analyst positions. The biggest challenge for those pursuing an MSF is the fact that it's a one-year program, which forces you to apply for full-time positions (often, without any prior IB experience). Can't speak to the quality of OCR at SMU, but I would think a number of banks recruit there.
