Last Ditch Effort -Senior who needs advice
Any advice for a current senior student looking to get for any bank for summer of '23. Have relentlessly been networking but little traction. I took on a fall IB internship along with 2 other internships resume. I have a 3.8 at a non target and a spring M and A internship (don't know if they hire full time)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking at corporate banking rotational programs but having no luck so far as everywhere is closed,
Thank you everyone for their advice it is greatly appreciated!
Apply to top Masters in finance programs and keep networking ruthlessly (think very small boutiques, likely with no formal analyst program, corp banking is a good idea but I've never seen rotational so don't just look for that). If you land something great you don't have to go do the masters. If you don't, you have a decent backup and can get going for FT 2024 recruiting in the spring.
Great thank so much man. I’ll definitely keep up with the networking and maybe I’ll get lucky with an opening. Just have been feeling bad about my chances as I was late to the game learning about investment banking until last spring
I was able to get into a few processes in October but unfortunately I did not receive an offer from my superday where I really wanted to join
What do you think of delaying a semester at my non target
I would do masters over that, the branding will help and if you are totally striking out now (assuming you didn't just start in like oct) I don't know how much difference it would make
If you're think thinking of delaying a semester to get a SA23 I think you're already too late. Pretty much just flip any prestige list and apply FT to regional firms? Think regionals(Texas Capital Bank), Euros(socgen, credit agricole, etc), Canadians, then move onto FDD, corpfin, big 4, consulting, etc? Problem I see with a masters is that you would still be late for SA23 and would just extend your FT recruiting efforts but with more education. Honestly I don't know much about recruiting after masters so I'll let someone else pitch in.
What should I do now?
