Leaving Off-cycle internship early for Full time roll
Hi, I'm currently an off-cycle intern at a PE/VC fund, I am currently 9 months into a 12-month internship, but I recently got a full-time offer from another fund for an analyst position and 3x how much i make a month as an intern. I am concerned about leaving on a good note given i made a commitment for 12 months but there is no chance of conversion at my current job.
How should i approach speaking to my MD about this, anyone who had a similar experience how did you do it?
Hi Intern in PE - Growth, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:

Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
In the end, you need to think about yourself. I know it's hard but you need to do that. Any good employer would expect to accept that as you had mentioned no chance of FT conversion. They'll know that you'll be applying elsewhere.
Well it went great, my boss was overjoyed for me and said the whole point was to give me experience to get a job, even though they hate to see me leave. They are incredibly excited for my future
In this industry you are a commodity. Don‘t overestimate youself by emotionalising these things. The other stint is clearly better. Don‘t feel bad for leaving. What do you think would the bank do in times of cost cutting or when there is a better candidate? No emotions. Just business.
Off topic but a 12 month internship sounds like hell. That’s just working but for less money. Good luck with your endeavours!
