Legg Mason Capital Management
I am currently pursuing a research internship with LMCM with the hope of entering IB next summer. Is there any skill overlap between asset management and IB?
Duties include:
- Researching various companies/industries/sectors
- Using statistical techniques to assess the accuracy and helpfulness of large pools of data
- Using common quantitative metrics and tools to measure various business metrics for investment cases
- Writing, editing and producing several daily and weekly written pieces. Writing must be crisp, sharp, and to the point
- Some administrative work; possibly reconciling transactions, telephone support, hodgepodge, etc... Nothing crazy at all, normal 40 hr wks
So my questions are as follows:
- What is LMCM or Legg Mason's overall reputation? (have a general idea, would like more opinions)
- How would skills in an AM internship translate over to an IB internship?
- For those with experience, what is the nature of the intern work? Is it substantial or mostly administrative?
Thanks
i dont know why you are trying to size up your internship in resume points on a message board but everyone here knows you just get coffee. yea in this market an AM internship is good, not as good as IB obviously but still very relevant
