Follow up cold emails help!

Good morning everyone need some advice from the experts in networking here on this forum. I’m currently in rx consulting been working hard to try and make the move to ib. I’ve been having a little trouble getting the hang of networking as a post-grad. When I send a cold email to someone from my super non-target who works in ib and I don’t get an initial response how do I frame the follow up email a week or two later? I believe following up with the same people is important because I my school doesn’t have a vast network of people in the industry like a target school does. I’m just looking to have a conversation to learn more about the work they do, culture and recruiting tips? Is this ok for a networking cold email?

I come from a target with a large alumni base who were all fairly responsive (compared to IB standards) so this might not be as easy to replicate, but generally my follow up emails were a lot shorter and to the point. It’d look something like: “Hello, i wanted to follow up on my email above and see if you had 15 minutes available anytime soon to talk about your experience at XYZ and any advice you’d have for someone like me. I’d greatly appreciate the opportunity to have a chat with you. Thanks, signature” Nothing more than a sentence or two, very concise. Main point is just to get the previous email back to the top of their inbox folder.

Thank you this helps, what do you use for a subject in the emails (initial and follow up)? Something to catch their attention but not too informal?
