Lmm pe vs IB out of UG

Long term, I’d really like to be an investor, and O think I would like to actually move into AM or a HF. Out of ug, would going into an opportunity at a LMM pe (smaller aum but really good partners that don’t want to grow and like investing in the lower mid market) or would a BB/EB or top MM analyst role be more helpful for going into a public investing role? Also, what if I decide I live pe investing and want to go to the umm, is that easier or harder from each role? Thx
