Looking for FT jobs in NYC or London (at a top US Target)

Hi, I'm an international sophomore at a top target in the US (HYPS). I was thinking about full-time roles and was wondering given the H1B lottery/f-1 situation if it would be better for me to recruit in London instead of for NYC roles. I am planning on studying abroad at Oxford junior year spring and have lots of family in the UK (although that's not where I am from) so I do think I have enough ties to the city to explain why I am recruiting for roles there. As an international student, working in the UK is much easier than the US - significantly easier as I can obtain British citizenship after working there for 5 years and they have a Highly Skilled Talent scheme for students at the top 50 universities globally where you can live there for 2 years without a job or anything. I am worried that the H1B lottery would not work out and then I'd have to transfer to the London/some other office, and I feel like it might be better to just start out there. Anyone have any advice? Heard there is a pay cut but not sure how much that translates to given different taxes etc. I would be recruiting for IB. Thank you!

Forgot to mention - I am doing a STEM major (Applied Math) so I do have 3 years of OPT. I just don't want to have to start afresh in a new country and given the situation right now in the US I don't think obtaining h1b will be easy at all...

First off, familiarize yourself with the recruiting timelines in the UK. for 2026 summer they start in the fall. If you’re a target graduating 2027 then that’s fine. Also, if you’re at HYPS then you don’t need a reason to have a tie to the UK. You’re of the few people that are good enough to make it through processes. If they ask just say you have family there. That’s it.
