Lost in the sauce & trying to watch my 6
So, I realize your initial thought is that this particular topic should be in the B School forum, but hear me out.
So I graduated this past spring from a total non-target private school with a GPA in the low-to-mid 3s. I served 4 years in the Army as a Military Intelligence Analyst and spent a semester interning with a commercial real estate investment brokerage, two semesters interning with a small, lower-middle market PE firm and two more semesters interning with a small, late stage VC firm. I feel like I really learned a lot, made some great contacts and gained some fantastic experience.
I have spent a lot of time contacting boutique IB firms in an attempt to secure a FT offer. I have received a lot of positive responses from a number of MDs as far as my experience is concerned and the firms that I have worked for but I feel like I am running out of rope here. I am trying to stay realistic and don't want to put myself at a greater disadvantage than I already have.
I'm still holding out some hope as far as offers are concerned, but given the market and the abundance of talent out there I want to prepare myself for the worst. I want to figure out what my next step should be given I don't get an offer and want everyone's opinion on some options I could take.
One option I was looking into was going back to school. Given the consensus that a MBA program is less beneficial without relevant experience I was looking into other options. Duke has a 1 year MMS program that I feel could be a good option...

...but feel that I will eventually get an MBA at some point down the road and see this as a bit redundant. However, it does keep me fresh as far as doing something career oriented and relevant as well as simultaneously boost the prestige factor in my resume. Given the cost, about $55k all-in, for the one year program do you guys see this option as potentially beneficial given my situation or just a waste of time and money?
Would you suppose it might be a better option to just try to get into a top 10 B school despite not having any relevant business experience and taking it from there?
All opinions welcomed, sarcasm included, but real advice would be most appreciated. Also, any other suggestions are welcomed. As of now I am working a crappy PT job to make ends meet and I feel like I have to start making some moves soon.
I appreciate any help.
Regards
McIntire has a similar program. It hasn't got the best reviews, but it never hurts to have a name brand on your resume.
