Lost on Career Path – Aspiring Global Macro
Hi all,
I’m feeling really lost about my career path and would really appreciate any advice.
My dream is to work in global macro hedge funds, ideally a small fund, because the big ones feel almost unattainable. I’m deeply passionate about macroeconomics, but I don’t think I have the math or coding skills to do trading or quant roles.
During my internship at BNP in structured products sales, I basically spent my time processing fees and drafting documentation until 10pm, which I absolutely hated. I also don’t see myself in client-facing roles, so sales is out too (i'm really shy).
Right now I feel stuck. I want a role that is interesting, intellectually challenging, and can pay well, but I just don’t know what path to take to get into macro hedge funds or something similar.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or can suggest paths into smaller macro funds, or other roles that match my skills and interests?
Thanks a lot for your insights.
