Lying? at networking...

Hey guys, so I'm sophomore college student in New York (not going school in city tho).

I just finished my assistant role to senior analyst at L/S fund. I run models, covered earnings call (doing it now still), do research for the firms and industries that Senior Analyst asked me to do, and present investment ideas that I have to him and receive feedback.

I met the senior analyst came to my school's club event, and keep in touch to you know just look for opportunity to learn. I ended up asking any internship opportunity at his fund (10 ppl office). He said PM likes to keep fund private, but I can kind of give you basic training and you can help my research little bit.

So I've been doing that for about three months.

I have to take absence in school for military service, and was looking for opportunity to work somewhere before I start my service. I keep active about going networking event/finance summit etc., in New York, taking advantage of being student (cheap fare), and living in the city, and came across with a guy who's working for one of CFA, CAIA, CMT, FRA, CAIA, CFP organizations. I talked to him, and he invited me into his office. I showed him one interesting opening abroad at global big L/S fund, and ask some advice for me, like resume. After I showed him mine, he said it's nice fit for you, and he knows someone who's in senior management at that fund, and will let her know about me.

Issue was technically, I'm personal assistant to Senior Analyst at the fund, I'm doing research myself, which means I don't go to office and PM doesn't know about me at all. I asked the guy how's talking to senior management going, and he replied me they could not be able to be in touch, and will keep me updated. A week or two later, I sent him email again and he didn't reply back since then. There's chrome feature that you can check whether email has been read or not. I downloaded and sent him again. Seems he's out of office because of automatic reply, but he opened it at like nowhere(this feature even has GPS tracking).

My concern is, do you think he's on vacation or involved with the other busy issue or just pissed off at me after contacting to PM and hear that I don't work for the fund.

What should I do in each case?

Thanks.
