McKinsey Application and Game

Hello,

I have recently been invited to complete the McKinsey Game (PSG), I would love to get some pointers on what to focus on when taking the assessment as well as to hear some experiences about anyone who took it and the level of difficulty y'all face. I am a current MSc. Management student studying at a target school in the south.
Some questions I have about this process and would love for you to help me out with are below:
- Is everyone who applied invited to take the game?
- How long should I prepare to take the assessment?
- Is it easier to get into McKinsey if applied to a foreign country?

I appreciate y'all's support!

Hey there!

First off, congrats on getting invited to complete the McKinsey Game! That's a big step. Now, let's dive into your questions:

  • Based on the most helpful WSO content, it seems that not everyone who applies is invited to take the game. It's usually those who pass the resume screening stage, so you're already doing great!
  • As for preparation time, it's a bit tricky. The game is designed to assess your problem-solving skills in a new and innovative way, so there's not a traditional 'study guide'. However, it's always a good idea to keep your analytical and problem-solving skills sharp.
  • Regarding applying to a foreign country, it's hard to say if it's 'easier'. Each office and region may have its own specific requirements and competition levels. It's best to apply where you feel you can bring the most value and where you'd like to work.

Remember, the game is just one part of the process. Keep focusing on showcasing your skills and experiences in the best light. Good luck, and remember to have some fun with it! After all, it's not every day you get to play a video game as part of a job application.
