I've been looking for a long time because it seems like every week there's another article proclaiming Miami the next finance capital. The reality is that a lot of people at the top are moving there and so you have VC/PE/HF and some IB partners, MDs, principals, etc moving down there by themselves. But the reality is that most of the firms these people are affiliated with aren't moving with them, they're basically just opening up a small office and working remotely. I've scoured VC firms and it seems like there are very few that take junior staff. There are a couple of MM banks with small offices there and a bunch of boutiques (not EBs). I don't know much about HFs so I can't speak for that. PE seems to be the best bet though. You have HIG as the biggest player and then a few MM and a bunch of LMM funds. But even then it doesn't compare to even Chicago in terms of presence.
