I networked with someone and had a pretty nice conversation with him. Can I mention his name in my cover letter saying "After talking with (name), my interest in your company was affirmed"? I didn't ask him if I could mention his name in a cover letter nor did I ask for a reference so I'm not sure if this is considered good practice.
