Ops at solid investment firms

Alright so just to give a little background; I'm a senior at semi-target midwest school and I graduate in May so I'm actively looking for decent roles right now. My overall GPA isn't stellar (it'll be a 3.0 at graduation, 3.5 major GPA) so I've been struggling quite a bit to break into front office roles. Last August I took on an internship at a commercial bank and I've essentially been doing fixed-income ops/investment diligence for management so I've got a strong background in those area's. Now I've actually been getting some calls back from SF/Phoenix/Chicago investment firms, and what I'm wondering is which of the following positions do you all think would have the most upside potential. The first is a straight ops position with a large Asset Management firm out in SF. I was thinking this might be a decent opportunity because maybe, just maybe, I could leverage it into a trading/research role if I just grind hard enough and impress my group (I know everyone on here says the move doesn't happen often). The second position is out in Chicago, and it's an actual fixed income analyst position. The only problem I have with this role is that its with a bank that isn't commonly viewed as an investment bank/asset management group, so I'm afraid of the experience not carrying strong credibility. So I'm kind of torn between which one I should take or if I should hold out altogether. I love fixed income and have a strong passion for it. In the future I want to be a MBS trader or fixed income research analyst. I'm taking the first part of the CFA in June. Any opinions on which position would set me up to move to my career goal the quickest would be appreciated.
