"Pass your resume along" What do I do?

I'm a year out from a strong semi-target/regional target looking to get into consulting, currently teaching abroad. About a month and a half ago traded emails with an alumni working at a Big 4 firm. I was looking to get into consulting/advisory and thought that he was in that too, but it turns out he's in Accounting (whoops). Anyway, last week I was surprised to get an email from him saying he had talked to some of his friends in Advisory and asking if I had a resume he could pass along. I sent it the next day at about 10 AM his time. Never got a confirmation of receiving it and haven't heard anything from anyone in advisory, should I follow up now that it's a week later?

I just wanted to follow up with you and make sure you received my resume last week. Please let me know if you hear anything or get any constructive feedback from your colleagues in advisory.

Your contact probably didn't see any reason to send another reply - he asked you for a resume he could pass along, and you sent it. At this stage in the process, it's probably out of his hands. The best thing to do would be to follow up with him, but instead of asking if he has heard anything, just let him know you haven't heard anything yet and ask him if you can have the contact info for the people in advisory so you can follow up yourself.

It's somewhat unlikely that your contact has friends in advisory - audit, tax, and advisory people typically don't know each other very well. The most likely situation is that he has emailed your resume to the advisory recruiter, who put it in his stack. Asking your contact for the advisory contact info is the best way to give yourself a chance at getting a foot in the door. Good luck!
