If he says read them, then you do it!!! As a freshman, this is a great opportunity and it should set you up for later on. Also, these are all good reads and you will be wayyyyy ahead of your freshmen peers. Just do it
If you are truly interested a bunch of them are easy reads. I really like the Market Wizards series by Jack Schwager. I think Peter Lynch's book is ok, but everyone else praises it like the bible of growth investing. I've read a bunch of the Curtis Faith book and thought it was interesting but not really relevant (read it when I was gearing more towards trading) given how old the experience is.
