Pre-Internship Tips and Advice

I'm interested to hear from people on how they navigated their junior year after receiving a SA offer. For context, I've recently accepted an offer at a BB/EB for Summer 2021. I'm going to relax for a while now, but also want to have a plan in mind going forward. I have a few questions that I was hoping I'd find the answer to here.

  1. When should I start networking for group placement? What can I do to maximize chances at getting my top choice? I'm planning on visiting the group in the office sometime before placement day- when is the optimal time for this?

  2. What is the best way to prepare for the internship? Overall skills needed and what to brush up on.

  3. How does compensation work on the prorated basis? Is the salary prorated weekly or monthly? If monthly, the pay would be higher of course.

  4. Any other tips or things that I should focus on?
