Preparing the perfect investment banking resume and cover letter

Hello,

Glad to be a part of this community, I am looking to break into the Investment Banking world in Dubai. I have 4 years of Corporate Banking experience and have worked on over 12 different types of transactions in more than 11 different industries. After those 4 years I completed a one-year MBA program, and due to facing extreme difficulty in landing an Investment Banking job I ended up in Management Consulting. It's been six months since graduation and the start of my current job, I am currently looking for ways of reinventing myself to be able to break through the obstacles that face anyone attempting investment banking.

Regards,

Omar

Not sure if resume expectations are different in Dubai, but this is what I would recommend: 1. Highly recommend redacting your personal information and making this more general when soliciting advice 2. Finance resume has to be one page only. If you are VP level or above, you can consider adding a second page for transaction list (or the consulting equivalent) 3. Things I would remove to help with #2: - Remove profile - Remove job description or shorten and include as bullet. Looks wonky - Remove all the bullet points under education (just show MBA, BBA - school and date info) - Remove Technologies 4. Date format inconsistent, stick to Month, Year (space after "October 2014" and before hyphen) 5. Hyphens inconsistent, the ones before the location are those long ones I hate (personal preference)
