PwC Interview- HELP PLEASE
I recently completed a phone interview with a campus recruiter at PwC. The interview ended quicker than I thought leading me to believe that I might have got rejected. I am not an accounting backgroud so I will not have enough credits to sit for cpa upon my graduation but I'm willing to achieve it since I have plans of going to grad school depending on if I get this job and stay on this track. I mentioned that bit in the thank you email I sent the recruiter after. The job I applied for have had many people from finance backgrounds who also did not go for the cpa get hired. My uncle was also a finance major who got into Deloitte achieved his cpa then and became senior manager but did not make it to partner so he moved to a different company for a higher position.
I was told to wait two weeks so I'm now patiently waiting. The recruiter told me they generally send out your resume to the locations you chose first and if one of those rejected you it moves to the next until you get a call from someone in the actual offices you applied to. He was really nice in telling me to constantly check my progress online and if all three rejected than to reapply to three new ones and to call him he will help send my resume out to those locations.
I've been doing a lot of research wondering if that's a good sign because the interview was only 15 minutes long when I was hoping for 30. I have studied for days and had notes but the questions I prepared were not the ones he had asked. If anyone knows how the recruiting process works please comment or if anyone have had their own interview experience similar. Thanks!
In addition, my family had a connection at PwC. There's a lady whose the daughter of my mom's close friend. Last time, I checked she was senior manager not sure if she's partner or plan to yet in the location of my first choice. She's would be willing to refer and recommend me if I asked, would that be better way to go? I have not asked because I rather not rely on these connections yet and she's in tax which is different from what I applied to.
How long has it been since your phone interview?
It has only been a couple of days since the interview so I'm not in any rush as I know it generally takes awhile for any response sometimes. I've been trying to stay positive on this and reflect on it for future apps if it doesn't go down so well. It's my first phone interview with a big four firm but I've had many others in the past years for all financial firms. I've also had a campus interview two years ago with KPMG. My gpa is not stellar nor do I have much activities but my work exp is what gets me through with two full years of working in financial services. I'm still an undergrad senior and am taking the tradition four year route to graduation so I didn't stick behind or anything.
Yeah I wouldn't stress too much about it if it's only been a couple of days. Also, for the Big 4, they mainly stress fit, so just show that you are team-oriented through the behavioral questions and highlight team stuff on your resume next time. If two weeks passes by with no response, send a brief follow up inquiring about progress.
bad idea sending that email, its like your essentially throwing up your white flag on a crap interview
Thank you on your input for this! I knew I shouldn't have mentioned that in a thank you email but it was recommended to send one after every interview by career services. I wasn't sure how to write one so I looked for a format online where they said to summarize your qualifications again and anything mentioned during the interview. I'm hoping he sees it in the light I'm trying to get at. If this blows through I'll try again. Thank you!
just be able to articulate yourself well and show that you're able to to speak and carry a conversation after all, that's what big 4 looks for! they ask super simple behavioral questions and make sure you're prepared with a ton of questions because they leave a lot of time for you to ask questions

Took me about 1.5 weeks to get the invite to superday. Phone interviews are hard to self-evaluate with. Don't panic and hope for the best!
