If you define quant as early high school math proficient, then maybe.
IB would not be a place I'd expect to run across quants. Any quant would be way, way overqualified for IB modelling.
Did you pass pre-calc?
if you're not from a target school, you should try to be a quant. You're not gonna use the quant stuff as an IBD analyst, but it makes you not look like the run of the diploma mill finance major.
