Quant to VP

First, welcome me here. Have been browsing WSO for quite a while. I'm sort of an amateur. Ignore the post, if it's too stupid. I have been searching a lot, but nothing came up; so I thought about creating a thread.

I'm currently doing my undergrad at a semi target school in economics and mathematics.

I'm basically interested in the career paths for quants. Is being a quant a dead end job? Do they not make it to the top management, say VP?

I initially planned to get a masters in computational science and engineering, say from Harvard SEAS or Stanford ICME, after my undergrad and join the industry then. Looking at it from this perspective, I'd probably want to land as a quant after my masters, but after 2 or 3 years, I'd like to get a Top MBA and join as an associate.

Does this pathway seem viable enough?

Sorry, if reading this wasted anyone's time. I just wanted to forestall my options and do a little bit of future planning before gettig down to it.

Thanks.
