Re-recruiting Before Internship
I secured an internship at a top EB for next summer and after networking with a few people realized the culture just isn't for me. I have already accepted the offer and am not one to renege so I am planning on re-recruiting next year: that would be before the internship starts due to the recent timeline. How bad of a look would it be if the EB learns I am re-recruiting? Has anyone done this before? Is it rescind-worthy? On another note, would the firms I am recruiting for next year raise eyebrows when seeing I am re-recruiting for SA positions although I received a junior internship (if I ended up re-recruiting, I will do 4 years instead of 3 so my expected graduation will shift a year)?
why did you recruit for moelis in the first place then sir
Why'd you recruit for MS GCM
You're not in as big of a predicament as you think you are. You have an extremely valid reason to re-recruit. The way I see it, you have a simple process ahead of you:
1.) You accepted a great offer for next summer. Sit back, relax, & wait until you get to the internship. What if you end up really liking your group / the people? Don't make final decisions about the internship before you experience it.
Let's say halfway through the internship, you decide it's truly not a cultural fit.
2.) FT recruitment. Typically extremely hard. But most candidates are typically MM, lower/mid BB candidates that are trying to "move up a tier". With some networking, I have no doubt in my mind that you will be able to get interviews at other EBs & top BBs. Just be sure to secure the return offer & express to the bankers at other firms that you are not a great cultural fit. As long as you are prepared and network a decent amount, you should be able to get a FT EB/top BB offer!
Bro take the offer.
