“Re”-Recruiting for Bank that rejected you for SA
Hi all - quick question. I recruited for a bank this past year for SA and made it to final round, but got no offer. I got positive feedback after SD, and was told it was a tight race, but they would be going with another candidate. Connected well with everyone I spoke with, and am really interested in the deals they work. I will be at a BB this summer, and am interested in applying for a FT position at the bank that I did not receive a SA offer. Does my rejection for SA hurt my chances? Don’t know if it matters, but said bank is a MM, not BB. Any insight would be appreciated.
I feel if anything it would help you — you have contacts to reconnect with, they know you, and seem to like you. I’ve heard anecdotes of banks pulling waitlist/prior Superday candidates to interview for FT before; it just makes it easier on them in terms of searching and they know the person can perform to some extent. However I’d want to hear other takes on this as well.
If I were you, I’d email your contacts at the bank and mention that you’d love the opportunity to join the team as a Full Time Analyst. You honestly have a leg up on others, use it
Appreciate you!
My group rejected a guy in the first round for a SA position and then a couple of years hired him for a FT position (so he joined the class he would have been in had he converted the SA interview).
