Received an offer for associate data science position but as a 1099 and not a W2. Is there a reason a PE fund goes this route? They claim I'd be considered completely an employee of the firm but just so my salary comes out of LPs. Am I digging a hole for myself here? I assume there is a risk of being laid off without any further benefits with this setup?
