Recruiting advice
So the thing is I have shit grades (3.3) and for the jurisdiction I’m in, I do go to a target school. Keeping my grades in mind, should I network more w recruiters or analysts/associates? Could really use some advice.

Career Resources
What year are you? I would try your hardest to network with both because I don’t see any disadvantages to having more connections than not. The main thing is reaching a 3.5 before recruitment season hits if possible. If you can’t I would try to take any internship you can and work towards a lateral later in your career towards IB if that’s what you’re aiming for
Ah, the classic conundrum of grades versus school prestige! Here's the scoop based on the most helpful WSO content:
Target School Advantage: Being at a target school is a big plus. It means you're in an environment that's already on the radar of the firms you're interested in. Leverage that!
Networking Strategy: With a GPA that's not top-notch, you'll want to focus on building relationships that can help overshadow that number. Networking with recruiters is good, but don't underestimate the power of connecting with analysts and associates. Here's why:
Personal Connections: Use any personal connections you have. If you know someone who can vouch for your work ethic and potential, that can sometimes carry more weight than grades.
Showcase Other Strengths: Grades aren't everything. Highlight your strengths, whether it's leadership, extracurricular activities, relevant work experience, or a compelling story about why you're passionate about the industry.
Prepare for Interviews: If you do land an interview, be ready to address your GPA. Have a solid explanation and focus on what you've learned from any challenges you've faced.
Remember, networking is an art. Be genuine, be curious, and be persistent. Good luck out there!
