Recruiting again?? As a recent Grad?

Hi all! I was wanting to get some opinions on my current situation--

I'm a senior studying Finance at a semi-target university. My cumulative GPA is currently a 3.2. I've been offered to work as Tax Staff at one of the Big 4. However, I'm not necessarily excited about the job or the starting salary. My main area of interest is working in Finance or Management/Tech Consulting.

Given the current economic condition, do you think it's a bad idea to reject the job offer?
Do you think recruiting in the next recruitment cycle will be extremely difficult as a recent grad? Do you think most companies would prefer to hire final year students?

Rejecting this offer seems like a very bad idea. Are you asking about recruiting during the fall? What will you be doing between now and then? Also, in general banks and consulting firms are looking at hiring seniors in the fall (to start in 2021) not recent grads.

It will be very hard to get into an analyst program, that isn’t to say you don’t have a chance at consulting or banking, but you most likely have missed your chance through the “standard channel”. I would use this job opportunity to learn, network, and set yourself up for your next move (whether school or changing firms).

Also, it is much easier to find a job when you have a job. Don’t give up that opportunity. I know many people who ended up in finance (HF, PE, etc) who didn’t take the “standard” route.

Definitely accept the offer given the current conditions

Tax at a Big 4 is a good first job. You could exit to a small IB boutique, FP&A at a corporate, potentially consulting, and climb the chain from there
