Refer me, Get Paid

I know this is not a job forum but will post this anyways because I really need help......

I am very interested in working for a Private Equity firm or a Hedge Fund. (Preferably in health care space, my background) I have an advanced degree in STEM and have working experience in retail banking. I am an aspiring writer and took time off from work to concentrate on some writing projects. Told i'm very driven. I'm a woman and a minority.

Willing to pay anyone who can refer me to their company. I've not been very lucky with the head hunters.

1) Don't pay someone to refer you. 2) If someone is making Hedge Fund/Private Equity comp then they're a POS to accepting that money.

Just keeping trying to network. People will make 10-15min out of their day to get on the phone with you if they can tell you're driven and smart. All it takes is one opportunity.

Retail banking and unemployed to Private Equity or Hedge Fund? Are you serious?

No one is going to help you regardless if you pay them money. You need to rethink your options. You haven't been lucky with head hunters because they either think you're joking or they aren't going to waste their time on you. Think more realistically.

^ I wouldn't put it that harshly but they're not wrong. You don't go from working part-time as a bank teller to Blackstone. Honestly, you're best chance is to go for an admin job or operations at a small no-name hedge fund. Maybe after a couple years of hard work they'll let you switch to some sort of front office job.

Internal referrals that lead to a new hire are often compensated through internal HR terms anyway. If I refer a new hire I will get paid by the company.
And these policies often clearly state that it is not permitted to refer someone for an external payment. We have such a policy.
Not saying this is super enforced or that they might find out, but people consider doing this should read the internal HR policies first.
