Rejected because I had water during an IB interview

About 3 months ago I had reached a final round interview with a regional investment bank. I was happy because I had been growing desperate. Made sure to practice every conceivable IB question and answer it to my camera several times. I received a rejection email not long after that.

Now, I have been talking to my friend who works there. He said that he found out I was rejected because of my misconduct during the interview. That misconduct was that I just had some water during the interview. Idk if the guy is shitting me but LMAO. Is it really that bad if you have some water during the interview?

i’ve heard some crazy stories about people getting rejected for the stupidest reasons. you can do everything right except for one mundane thing that your interviewer doesn’t like, and there goes your offer. this industry seems to be much quicker to say no than to let people in
