Relocating to London/Toronto as a First Year Consulting Analyst

Hey guys

Currently working as a first year analyst for a T2 consulting firm. Mostly focusing on M&A strategy work with some ops transformation projects thrown in there. My end goal would be to get into PE at some point (I was considering lateraling to IB before my H1-B got denied) get some experience and eventually start my own fund in the third world. Sadly, my H1-B application got RFE'd and then denied which means I have to leave the U.S come next year. I am currently exploring several options:

  1. Transferring to the London Office: London seems fucking cool and living in Europe is definitely on my bucket list. The only real issue I have is that I'd be taking a pretty significant pay cut (25%ish - roughly make PS45k including bonus) and I am not entirely sure how liveable this is given London is pretty expensive after all. The strategy group has already expressed interest and I'm fairly confident I could get hired pretty easily. I was also considering maybe trying to transfer to the valuation/corp fin group since I am under the impression PE firms in London tend to recruit people with this background?

  2. Transferring to the Toronto Office: Toronto seems pretty cool too I am not entirely sure what the consulting market looks like but paycut is smaller (making CAD 80k ish) and I should be able to get a visa and subsequently citizenship fairly easy since my country has a free trade agreement with Canada.

  3. Looking for IB/PE positions in Toronto/London: Ideally I'd want to jump to the IB/PE boat as I make this transition but I am not entirely sure how easy/doable it is.

I was hoping I could get some advice and color on the IB/PE/Consulting markets in Toronto/London. Your opinion on what path I should take and if possible some headhunters contact info that could help me with the recruitment process.
