Reminds me of the recruitment process at i-banks

Although I went to a state school, I thought some of the comments by the recruiters were funny.

Utter nonsense and quite simply false.
Even as a non-target student, I can see alot of this being true.
I would agree with the second point, that it's better to have a slightly lower GPA and be well-rounded, but I've been told by interviewers that your resume will get you the interview, but after that you need to kill it in that room in order to get the offer.
I went to Cornell / Brown / Dartmouth and I can tell you... it was a great place to be and I had/have a lot of opportunities open having gone there and gotten strong grades... but it ain't HYP. It's just not. 50% of the kids there aren't even that smart and recruiters give you the benefit of the doubt but are not impressed. Once you get into PE or another elite field it no longer sounds at all impressive that you attended one of these schools.
On the flip side, when it comes up on the walk me through your resume part of the interview, you never usually need to explain it as a negative like you might need to if you went to a non-target. I usually explain that my dad and brother also attended school there so I "had a lot of family pressure to attend... plus it's a 'pretty decent' school anyways"
what a screwed up world
