I know how it happens, but I still have trouble fathoming where these great high-school students go bad in college.

Not a knock on you, just an observation. You're obviously a smart chap.

Are you graduating early? If you're a freshman graduating in four years shouldn't you be class of '10?

there's a good chance Chicago is a hell of a lot harder than his high school, hence the gpa drop. different high schools are not comparable. I know kids with 4.0s from public highschools who had a rough time in college while kids with 3.3 from the nyc private schools and boarding schools coasted. not all gpas are equal

UofC is undoubtly one of the hardest schools in the nation. I graduated from there a bit ago and just to let you know, the average GPA is roughly a 2.9-3.0. That being said, banking is hard to get into so you'll need above or near a 3.5 with some solid work experience. Also what matters a lot is getting to know upperclassmen who will pull your resume during initial rounds when they inevitably go on to work after graduation.

I had a GPA of 3.1, its all in how you network and interview. Intelligence does not always correlate with GPAs. Bankers like to drink/party too. Your resume looks fine.
