Return offer from SA2023 but not sure if I should keep recruiting

Hi everyone. Currently a junior at a semi-target, I interned at a LO AM this past summer and received a return offer to join as a research associate for summer 2024. I love the team I'll be joining and have a decent network there but I'm not sure if I see myself working in my assigned role long-term as I'm afraid I'll be pigeonholed early on. The role is also not in NYC, which is where I want to live post-grad. This is a big factor for me.

I only have 2 days to accept the return offer before it explodes and I don't have anything else outstanding, so I'm going to take it. But I'm confused about how this positions me for FT recruiting and I need some advice. If I start getting interviews for roles that fit more closely with my career goals and are in NYC, do I keep trying or do I deny them? I don't want to renege on a signed offer since I have already built relationships at my firm, but with the internship timeline I feel like I have to consider the possibility. Also, after next summer, if I find that the role isn't for me, when do I even recruit for FT – iirc, interviews generally begin in August and offers explode around the same time so I'm very confused with that as well.

Appreciate any help.
