Rotation in Corp Dev roles prior to joining Consulting

Hi all,

I have been working for about a year in one of big European energy companies (think Total, Repsol) in corporate development with the focus on petrochemicals business. I am considering a move to a group that works exclusively on RES related investments (still corp dev, same company). Ultimately, I would like to move to consulting. Would you consider that rotation beneficial or would actually that 1 year experience be viewed as unimportant/too short to gain real knowledge? Prior to that CD stint I have worked in IB for about 2 years.
