RX FT Recruiting

If I'm too late for RX for 2023 internships, is it feasible to convert a mid tier BB to a top RX shop, assuming I know my technicals down cold? I'd like to think I'm personable, and am 100% confident in my ability to be one of the smartest people in the room when it comes to RX stuff, but got looped into the process very late so it's not looking great for RX internships.

Thanks.

A mid-tier BB return offer and your interest in restructuring would definitely position yourself well for an RX full time offer, however some hiring factors are out of your control. FT spots for RX open because 1) they're expanding their class size due to higher than expected dealflow and 2) SAs don't get a return or don't take a return. Factor #1 seems unlikely - we probably won't see another year like 2020 and early 2021 in awhile, stressed companies have easier access to financing without the need to file, and some RX groups also overhired during the COVID boom. Factor #2 is more likely - every year some SAs at top RX groups move over to buy-side analyst programs, and there are occasionally summer interns who decide RX isn't for them. All in all, keep your RX contacts warm but don't annoy them too much, retain your technical knowledge, and you'll be best positioned for FT recruiting.
