SA to Analyst
Hi WSO, I just wonder if you need to do an internship to later get hired as an analyst. Do I need to or would you just recommend it?

You need an internship in something and IB internship makes it way easier. But if you do a summer in PE, HF, CB or some other finance related role it’s not impossible
99% of analysts will have junior year internships. Let's say 85% at either the bank they signed with for FT or a competitor in IB, and the other 15% from industry corp fin jobs/PE/etc
These days it's helpful/recommended to have a sophomore internship but not a need. Junior year SA is a necessity.
