Fuck you. Help students by offering information for free, not by charging them. I understand that some may and can afford to pay but what about those who can't? Let's try to even the fucking playing field not make it worse.
I give free resume advice and push kids to wherever there are openings because I’ve been there myself. The market’s competitive and it’s even harder for those like us who never had anyone (outside networking) in the field. You said you didn’t have anyone in the field either. So shouldn’t you be more willing to help those so that they can recruit bit better and succeed?
First of all thank you for the feedback, I completely understand where you are coming from.
I guess I should have been more clear with the vision. The products that are aimed to cover all your basics and get you through the process would be free. This would include information on resumes, general timelines, networking methods, lots of templates based on different situations etc. What would not be free is everything that goes deeper, and requires a more service-like approach. Such as mentorship, a tailored guides based on firms, resume/cover letter services etc. The goal would be to give every motivated student all the tools they need to succeed free of charge. If anyone else thinks they need more, and are willing to pay for personalized services then they are able to do so. With all of this in mind, do you still feel the same?
Lmao fuck off with your "I completely understand where you are coming from", you are literally a sophomore according to your previous posts and it is obvious that you don't know shit about recruiting and finance. I would suggest you get laid rather than trying to pursue such a pointless and cringe project.
This seems like a blanket approach to recruiting and not a targeted one - sure, the information might be useful to someone trying to figure out what firms to target, but how hard is it really to figure any of this out? After you do a couple (good) networking calls with ppl at X firm you have an idea of culture, deal type, internship program and hopefully the firm's recruiting timeline. Then you have plenty of fodder to throw around in your interview.
What else is there to gather/offer that is genuinely useful to a prospect in IB that they can't figure out with a couple cold emails?
This is still just an idea. However, I have thought of some ways to make it a lot more targeted (potentially by offering firm/geographically specific strategies).
A lot of the information would serve more for convenience. At the end of the day, to get into this industry you have to grind and work extremely hard, and that is not something that I will/should change.
