Seeking Advice for Summer Internship

Hi everyone!

I'm currently a student at a prestigious university in Germany, about to start my second semester. My ultimate career goal is to break into the Mergers and Acquisitions sector. However, I'm at a bit of a crossroads and could really use some guidance.

This summer, between my second and third semesters, I want to secure an internship that will set me on the right path for a career in M&A. The challenge is, I haven't had any internships yet. My unique advantage, though, is that I've spent a significant amount of time in Asia, having completed my high school education there.

I'm reaching out to this community for advice:

  1. What type of internships should I be targeting this summer to best prepare for a future in M&A?

  2. Are there specific companies or sectors that value international experiences like mine?

  3. Any tips on how to leverage my background in Asia in applications or interviews?

  4. Would you recommend any particular skills or certifications that I should focus on acquiring now?

Thank you in advance!
