SEEKING CAREER ADVICE VETERAN
Looking for some career advice.
I’m a 25 year old veteran in New York. I really want to break into IB (had my eyes set on it for a few years now). I know I’m behind the curve but I still want to pursue this career because it’s what I want to do.
I’m currently at a community college fixing my GPA (3.7) because of past mistakes in my teens. Next year I plan on being at a semi target school at the minimum. But other than that I don’t know what else to do that can possibly help me get into IB. Honestly it feels like all odds are against me but I have to at least try for myself.
Any tips? Advice? Criticism? Appreciate the inputs in advance.
The key is to get into a target school.

Definitely try and aim for a target school. A semi-target like Baruch, Fordham, Pace or St Johns is good also if you plan on staying in New York.
Join any financial programs and clubs on campus and network as much as you can.
wishing you luck op, but none of the schools listed above are semi-target schools. they are non-target schools that slightly punch above their weight due to their proximity to nyc
I’m an active duty officer who also works for a PE firm, part-time. I attended a target. Was originally on the IB path before I opted for the Army. Have helped numerous prior-enlisted w/ admissions to my university.
Happy to help if you want to DM me.
I echo most of what's above. Only things I would add are to leverage Veterans programs at places like GS or MS and try to network with different Veterans groups. Good luck.
