Sending a follow up email after coffee chat
Hello guys, hope all of you are well! I just had a coffee chat with an IB associate and wanted to send him an email thanking him for his time while also asking for help in expanding my network. He seemed very laid back so the email doesn't have to be very formal but I still want to ask him to refer me to someone who will enjoy talking to me as much as I would enjoy learning from them This is what I have so far "Hey Name, I just wanted to thank you for taking the time out of your day to talk to me and the insights you offered about the future of the industry due to the changes in the revenue structure."
But I wanted to know how to ask for a reference. Thank you in advance.
imo, wouldn't say the revenue thing because it makes you sound like a hardo.
Thank you, it was just a big focus of our conversation
Yeah don’t say the revenue thing. Just send him a regular thank you and say it was great to meet thanks for the time. “If there’s anyone else in your group that you think would be willing to chat with me as well I would definitely be interested in reaching out to them”
Correct. If you feel like your really hit it off, you can directly ask "what are next steps from here?" or "what do you suggest in terms of next steps?". If he liked you, he'll probably ask for your CV and refer you internally.
I sent him my resume as a "if you want some background about me" afet he replied to my first email
