If many people already have that address of yours and you get regular mails, stick with it but use Joe E. Lastname as sender and signature in the email. How about changing it to [email protected]?
[email protected] or [email protected]. Can't ever go wrong with a Gmail account.

I don't think its that confusing, you may be over-thinking this. Besides, that extra e story makes you easier to remember.
