Should I claim hispanic?

Internship search hasn't been going great. I'm a quarter Catalonian on my mom's side, the other three quarters is Romanian. Does that count as Hispanic? I speak Spanish pretty well, but my Romanian and Catalan are both much better. Do I mark down Hispanic on job applications?

I just want another scandal like that IU kid who faked diversity and was exposed. You are white, just cuz you speak various european languages doesn’t make you diverse. But there are plenty of white european Mexicans/Cubans/Argentinians etc (y’know the ones who’s families are obsessed with keeping the bloodline pure) who have done what ur trying to do without repercussion.

100% say you are hispanic. You literally are. The definition of hispanic includes the country of Spain. They will never check because its probably illegal and insanely unethical but you could easily make the argument that you were discriminated against for having spanish origins/speaking spanish. The whole point of boosting hispanic diversity is because hispanics are discriminated and a lot of the times this is due to language. Also there's a ton of fully European DNA hispanics in latin america so not having "native DNA" is not an issue.

It's a cruel world out there so you have to take every chance you have.

Apply as Hispanic. I’ve known people with 10% Hispanic and they put Hispanic. and I know people from Spain who put themselves as Hispanic. Take advantage of this.

Best,

Non diverse candidate
