Should I take a year gap after 1st Year to improve recruiting chances?

I’m a first year at a semi target in the UK who completed first year a few months ago. I’ve been considering taking a year out for the next academic year which would last from from late Sept till August 2024. The reason I’m considering this is because I didn’t apply for Springs and in all honesty I haven’t really added much to my CV in order to apply for SA 23 roles which have already opened. The only experience I’ve added was a 4 day Virtual ‘Internship’ (which isn’t brilliant) and a summer school course I did at a target. Furthermore my grades this year haven’t been brilliant with me achieving a pretty low 2:2 for the year. I’m not too hopeful for my chances in the summer and so I’m thinking that gaining some experience through working at a search fund or related financial experience would give me greater chances at a summer role in 2025.
