Should I transfer to UPenn Wharton?
I'll be starting undergrad and I've already been considering transferring to Wharton after freshman year, even though freshman year hasn't started yet. Would that be wise, or no? Since the end of application season in the fall, where I regrettably didn't apply to Wharton, I've given it a lot of thought and realized I really want to go into investment banking. Looking at the Wharton website, they suggest transferring Sophomore year which means I'm going to need to pick my classes in the fall carefully in order to meet all of the transfer requirements and be a viable candidate. I guess my question is, is it worth it? Would I be able to get the same education/opportunities/attention from recruiters, or should I begin pushing to make the switch? Do you know of anyone who transferred to Wharton, and if so how did it go?
Also, what about in private equity recruiting later on?
Honestly, I wouldn't do it. You'll likely have a much easier college life at Brown than you would at Wharton and you'll still be able to get into IB. There is likely less competition at Brown compared to Wharton/Penn for IB positions too which is a benefit. If you want to try to go straight to the buy-side out of undergrad, then Wharton would be the move to make, but otherwise I don't think its worth the effort/hassle. See how you like Brown and then you can decide after the first semester
I agree with above poster. Just stay at Brown. It'll be easier to maintain a higher GPA and you'll definitely encounter less competition. I'm sure it'll be easier to network with Brown alum as a result.
I agree. Brown has the Ivy League name to it, which will help you out in recruiting, and there will be much less people aiming for IB.

I hope you realize what a phenomenal opportunity you have right now. Practically, no door will shut to you graduating from Brown. Many people would kill to be in your position. Not to be a dick, but your post makes you seem like an ungrateful little turd. You apparently applied to and are matriculating to Brown for some set of reasons. Yet, before you gave set one foot on campus as a student, you're already having buyers remorse. If you can't get to where you want to be from Brown, transferring schools will not help you.

Easy choice. UPenn is ranked higher and has a better reputation in finance.
It's also in a great location. Sure there's competition, but you'll find that at Brown too....if you're looking for prestige and academic ranking/ quality...UPenn
