Should People Be Arrested At BP?

With such a delay and false reports when will they start making arrests at BP? do you think they should start making arrests? I think they should, it would probably accelerate this process much more quicker. I find it laughable that they even have time to make television ads.

what would they arrest people for criminal charges? Well certainly there will be a slew of civil suits........

I don't think arresting people is the answer. No one at BP did this on purpose. Accidents happen. Just think at the ramifications if the USA started arresting company people every time something happened.

Maybe those people at Union Carbide should be arrested.

These little spills happen. If you want cheap oil, deal with it.

no i remember specifically that they falsified information about having recovery/backup plans in place when something like the deepwater accident occurred. Clearly they were wrong or falsified information because we are at day 54 i believe and they seem to have no real solution. Sure accidents happen, but with any big projects there needs to be a certain level of control.

As if the government would do a better job of the clean up. The government can't even turn a profit on the ponzi scheme that is social security.

I'd much rather have BP cleaning up than Karl Marx and Co.

Yes.

This is a huge disaster and there has to be major accountability on the part of individuals. Tired of all this "it came from the top" and "it was endemic in the industry" bullshit.

Laws without morals are useless, and part of the problem is that these people are weak in the knees when it comes to morals. So they deserve to get fucked.

Not fair? Neither is the fact that the Gulf of Mexico is contaminated for the indefinite future (not to mention drinking water) and the forecast for Miami is cloudy with a chance of oil.

And yes, people should get arrested at Union Carbide. People might start thinking critically and long-term greedy if they knew huge fucking gross negligence equals prison time.

If after the necessary level of investigation it is revealed that individuals engaged in criminal acts, then yes those individuals should be arrested and their guilt tested by a jury of their peers. I think a lot of people need to cool their emotions and look at the situation more objectively. As for a solution, think about this: even Harry Stamper and his crack drilling team had problems when they saved humanity from total annihilation back in 1998. BP is well aware of the fact that the sooner they plug this thing, the better off they are in all aspects, so don't you think that is what they are doing?

I still don't understand why BP is getting so much blame while Halliburton and Transocean seem to be getting an easy ride. The cynic in me thinks the "American" companies are being let off easy.
