Should SAs reach out to analysts in their teams a few weeks before the internship?

I am an incoming IB summer analyst and was wondering what is everyone's take on reaching out to folks in the designated team a few weeks before the internship begins?

I know this seems pretty intuitive but I am on the fence because I know Analysts are burnt out and have a lot on their plate. I'd hate to add to that by trying to network when we'll be working together anyway. Having said that, it would be nice to have some contact with the group.

Personally it comes off as a hardo thing to do. We’ll meet / get to know each other through the summer. You’ll get trained as you get staffed on things when you start. If I were to get an email from an incoming intern to talk I would say yes to be nice, but in the back of my head would be like really dude, you’re going to waste 30 minutes of my day to chit chat and ask me fluff questions. You’ll learn everything you need to know once you hit the desk. It’s like the intern who stays at the office until 1am even though they’re not working on anything. I understand being eager, but you just come off as a weirdo

Maybe a dumb follow up, but what if you genuinely want to get to know the team and don't ask fluff networking questions? I.e. you actually ask them about hobbies outside of work, and general getting to know you questions. I feel like it could be beneficial just so you have a few people you can fall back on who you already connected with well and can shoot potential questions to them.

With online internships, I actually thought it would be a good idea to do this (in a non-hardo way) since we won't have the facetime to connect on a more personal level.

Could be based on the individual person too though.
