Skills needed for any finance/banking career really

Hello everyone,

As my topic title says I am looking for skills used in finance/banking, things I could or should be learning. I am 30 and will be 31 in mid June I am not looking to be in IB or even on Wall Street, I know that ship has sailed, besides my age I went to an incredibly non target school in Richardson, TX with a BA in Economics and fairly low GPA of 3.33. I am looking to get into one of the still solvent regional banks we have in the Dallas area but I cannot seems to get any responses other than "we decided to go with someone else" in the three years I have been applying to positions. Any help from people more experienced than me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

TooOldForFinanceCareer

PS. Don't knock me down too much for the user name, I am usually bad at those and figured this fit me well.
