Sophomore Summer Internship Options

Which of the three sophomore summer internship offers would be the best for SA26 recruiting as a non-target, non-diversity candidate? This will be a line on my resume, so I’m curious about the weight each might hold with recruiters. While being in NYC would be the most fun for my sophomore summer, I still hope to have useful experience under my belt and enhance my SA26 recruiting prospects.

I assume the M&A intern role at the small regional middle-market IB boutique is the best choice for gaining IB experience and boosting my resume a little for recruiting. However, how much less valuable would the other internships be in comparison?

1. Equity Research Analyst covering large-cap equities at a trust with $20B AUM in a large Midwest city. How much does the AUM matter on my resume? Does explicitly stating it make a difference? I find this role interesting, but I’m unsure if equity research would be valued by IB recruiters or if it might suggest a lack of focus on IB.

2. Corporate Finance/FP&A with a F500 in NYC. Would provide great exposure in a high-profile city, where I also hope to work after graduation. Would also probably be the most fun/coolest.

3. M&A Intern at a small regional middle-market IB boutique in a smaller city.

Thanks
