Sophomore Summer Internship Recruiting timeline

Hi,

I am currently a non diversity freshman at UIUC majoring in relatively hard quant major. GPA 3.6 with huge investment involvement on campus + early insights day with 2 BBs. For my freshman summer I have an internship with the largest regional BB in India. It has larger deal flow than GS/JPM/MS in the region. Would this be of significant advantage in sophomore internship recruit or should I try and find a small boutique in the US?

I also wanted to know the timeline and process for sophomore summer recruiting. Most apps close in September. If I was to apply in Mid June and go all the way, when would the first round and then super days be and from there when can I expect to receive my offer? Just wanted to understand sophomore recruiting before the junior recruiting season starts

Sophomore programs are generally diversity only at this point. You want to find internships at smaller banks that aren’t focused on diversity. A buddy of mine talked his way all the way up the chain at a BB to try to get into a sophomore program. Just wasn’t possible according to the way it was set up. He went to a boutique for sophomore summer and ended up with a great offer regardless.
