Staffers influence on SA Offers
So through my networking experiences so far, alumni tend to give me the email of the "staffer" (typically a VP) in their group, since he/she is in charge of the recruiting process. I wanted to know how much of an influence a staffer tends to have when deciding on which candidates get offers post superday.
Does the staffer receive all the feedback from the MD's, and then decides who gets offers?
Any insight would be appreciated!
I would say they are probably the most influential in the group besides a very involved/active MD (which is quite rare). When I was networking, getting someone to actually vouch for me to a staffer (VP) is as good as it gets because if you meet with him and he ends the conversation and says "send me your resume"- you will 100% be pushed to HR, at that point it is up to HR to determine whether to give you an interview and most likely you will jump to superday (if its a structured FT recruiting process for example) or you will get a formal phone interview with some analysts, after which you can move up to the MD level for interviews and if they all mutually agree about bringing you on and then thats it- you got the offer- btw this latter process is the "informal" process you see some people write about on WSO (its much better than the somewhat arbitrary superdays where you go up against random kids from other banks).

But if I've already had my superday. Would you say he still has an influence on wether I could possibly get the offer, or will that 100% come down to people who interview me(MD's).
Id imagine its mostly what the interviewers thought of you- again the superday can truly be arbitrary (there are many instances of people who are less qualified being chosen for a variety of factors unrelated to future job performance).
I would also figure that they would aggregate whatever information they have about you to come to a decision (call whoever spoke with you in the past to get their opinion- if they didnt already have that written down before the superday which they probably did)

Following on from this, in your SA who is it that has most responsibility for determining SA's return offer?
Is it the staffer / MD / analysts in team etc.?
I think it will be staffer, followed by the other juniors and finally the MD ( who doesn't really have a say)? Could be completely wrong.

Yes. Staffer and other juniors have the most say. Usually the staffer would run the list by the MDs - as long as you are not hated by the MD to the extent that he/she would specifically cross you off the list, you'll be fine. MDs couldn't care less about interns tbh
